Ana Frappell

Lead Cardiac Nurse Specialist

Ana Frappell is a skilled Heart Failure Specialist Nurse and Non-Medical Prescriber at the Brighton & Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust. In this role, Ana leads the management of congestion alerts via patients’ pacing devices and has developed a niche specialisation in cardio-oncology. Her expertise in this dual-focused role enhances patient care, ensuring comprehensive management of heart failure and its intersection with oncology.

Prior to her current position, Ana honed her skills at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in London. Here, she was pivotal in advancing heart failure care, leveraging her extensive knowledge and hands-on experience to support and manage patients with complex cardiac conditions.

Ana’s educational background is robust, with advanced training in prescribing from King’s College London, complementing her foundational degree in critical care nursing with a cardiology focus. This blend of advanced and specialised education underpins her clinical practice and leadership in the field.

Hiten Patel

Lead Cardiac Consultant

Dr. Hiten Patel is a Consultant Cardiologist known for his expertise in complex device implantation and heart failure management. With a deep commitment to patient-centered care, he emphasises a holistic approach in his practice. 

Currently, Dr. Patel serves as a Consultant Cardiologist at Eastbourne District General Hospital in Sussex, where he specialises in advanced cardiac care, including the management of arrhythmias, heart failure, and the implantation of complex cardiac devices. He is actively involved in both clinical practice and research, striving to enhance patient outcomes through innovative screening methodologies and treatment strategies.

Dr. Patel received his training on the south coast and is recognized for his clinical excellence and dedication to advancing cardiac screening methodologies. Outside of medicine, he is an avid marathon swimmer, reflecting his passion for endurance and commitment to well-being.
